arts in the community

I’ve done a lot of work with community beautification group: Elmhurst Clean & Green in Providence, RI, such as organizing activities at our farmer’s market, and painting a mural with kids at the build day of our Kaboom! playground. The years I’ve spent volunteering for EC&G were tons of fun and I look forward to participating in similar projects in the future!

Also, in 2010 I was part of a community art project called HousEART headed by local artist Lydia Stein and the Smith Hill Community Development Corporation. Local artists were asked to paint murals onto dilapidated residences that would eventually be transformed into affordable housing. My idea was to create a stencil that could be used as a repeat pattern on the boarded up windows of my chosen house.
